Delete noise and shadows you won't buy paint for. Their area moves to the nearest remaining color. Mark the background as a roller base to estimate bucket paint for the whole wall.

    Coverage and prices

Can coverage and price apply to the selected brand. A 400 ml can covers roughly 2 to 3 m² of solid fill. Outlines, fades and porous walls use more.

    How it works and privacy

    Where does my design go?

Nowhere. Your image is read and processed by your own browser, on your own device. It is never uploaded, stored on a server or seen by anyone. Close the tab and it is gone. Once the page has loaded, you could even switch off your internet and the calculator would still work.

    What does the site save?

Only your settings (wall size, brand, sliders, coverage and prices, chart sorting), so they are still there next time. They are kept in your browser's local storage on your device, not on a server. There are no accounts, no cookies, no ads and no analytics or tracking.

What happens when I send feedback?

The form sends only what you type: the topic, your message and your email if you add one. It goes to me through the form service Web3Forms, and your email is used only to reply to you. Your design is never attached.

    Who hosts the site?

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, it handles the requests for the page itself (which includes your IP address and browser type). The calculator sends nothing else.

    Does it use AI?

No. There is no AI involved. The calculator uses plain color math, the same kind of formulas printers and paint makers use to compare colors, so the same design always gives the same result.

    How are colors matched?

It finds the main colors in your design, then looks up the closest paint in the brand's chart. The ΔE number next to each match shows how far apart the two colors are: under 3 is Exact, under 6 Close, under 12 Rough, and above that Far. Around 2 is the smallest difference most people notice.

How is the paint amount calculated?

Each color's share of the design is applied to your wall area, multiplied by the coats and the safety buffer, then divided by the coverage of one can and rounded up. Colors that land on the same paint are added together before rounding. A roller base covers the whole wall and is counted in liters of bucket paint, plus touch-up spray cans in the closest spray color.

    How accurate are the colors?

Paint colors are screen approximations of each brand's published chart, and screens differ. Use the matches to shortlist, then check a physical color chart or a test spray before buying.

    Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up and no limits. It is a side project made for mural artists.

Can I use it for paid commissions?

Yes. Use it for any mural, personal or paid, and share your shopping lists however you like. They are yours. The amounts are estimates, so check them and the colors before you buy. The calculator itself (its code and design) is not open source: please don't copy, republish or sell it.
